| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Canon's EOS 50D bridges the gap between the novice and the seasoned pro with a perfect combination of high-speed and quality. It features an APS-C sized 15.1-megapixel CMOS sensor for tremendous images, new DIGIC 4 Image Processor for fine detail and superior color reproduction and improved ISO capabilities up to 12800 for uncompromised shooting even in the dimmest situations. It features a refined 3.0-inch Clear View LCD (920,000 dots) monitor, supercharged Live View Function with Face Detection Live mode, plus a number of new automatic Image Correction settings and HDMI output for viewing images on an HDTV. The standard zoom lens features a wide focal length range from normal to telephoto equivalent to 29-320mm in the 35mm format. It features an Optical Image Stabilizer for up to 4-stops of effective correction even at full zoom. Since Canon's optical image stabilization system is in the lens, not in the camera, you can see the stabilized, steadier images through the viewfinder. And the circular aperture can give beautiful background blur effects. This new wide zoom ratio EF-S lens delivers excellent high-speed performance at an affordable price.

| Customer Reviews: Nice SLR June 28, 2010 Charles N. Drake (Anacortes, WA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I went for the 50D over the Rebel series because it handles low light and high speed photography better. I can set the ISO to 3200 rather than 1600, and the shutter speed goes to 1/8000 second. What I want to know is how big a drop in print quality will result from the ISO 3200 setting. I'll be testing the shutter speed function at a local racetrack on July 3rd. The cars reach speeds of 180 MPH at the end of the straightaway. 1/8000 should freeze the action. Of course I'll slow it down a little too, for background blur. The 50D is fun to play with, but it is a bit big and heavy.
Hard to beat for price and quality September 19, 2009 Alan 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I got a 40D for Christmas in 2008.Great camera. With the 50D it hits 6.3 frames per second which is less than the 40D at 6.5.I got the 50D not long after it came out.Canon really improved some things on the 50D,like the Digic 4 processor, went up 5 megapixels to 15.1,shooting information on the rear LCD and more .I would recommend this camera for amateur to professional.A great camera for the money.
Happy with my purchase June 3, 2009 L. Hermann 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I looked long and hard before replacing my Canon Rebel XT. I knew I would stay with the Canon line because I had invested in several lenses, but there were at least three choices in my price range: the 40D, the 50D or the new replacement for the Rebel XT. I opted for the 50D and have been very pleased with it. I bought UDMA cards, and the camera is lightning fast now, especially compared to my old Rebel. I like the big screen on the back, and am having fun learning all the various functions and settings. Getting a couple of good books about the 50D helps. The camera came very quickly from Adorama and it does have the North American warranty (which is important).
