 Beware! Mine is NOT type M compatible!!! August 23, 2008

I chose this one based on the reviews of one of the other guys stating he found it to be compatible with type M or type H cards. Well, it works fine for my type H card, but it does not recognize my type M card.
I purchased a brand new Fujitsu 2 MB type M card along with this reader. It works fine in my camera. The camera recognizes all 2 MB. The reader does not recognize it. I reformatted it with the camera, and still no luck, even though the reader works with the original H type card that came with the camera. On top of that, when I try to format it on my computer, it states total capacity of the card is only 1 MB, which seems to verify that the card DOES NOT recognize the newer M type card, which is higher density that the H cards... Obviously I'm upset.
Other than that, the unit is fine. You do not need to use the cord, as long as you have a usb port with enough clearance to insert the unit directly. So you basically have a thumb card reader with an additional usb "extension" cable that comes with it. So if you need to read H cards ONLY, then this reader is perfectly ok, so far as I can tell.

This is the only card reader that I have found so far that reads my "XD picture card". I bought two other multi-card readers, but neither of those would recognize the type M or type H XD Card. This is compact, and works perfectly every time. I'd highly recommend this one if you're having problems finding a card reader that reads the type M or type H XD Card. You can't go wrong for the price.

I got this about a year ago when my multi-card reader couldn't download images from some of my XD cards. This one has worked with all my cards including the newer Type M and Type H cards. It works well for downloading from the cards but you need to use your camera to later delete the images from the card.
