5 out of 5 stars Easy to use....   November 5, 2008

The Scandisk Micromate Reader was as easy to use as a USB drive. Just insert the memory card from the camera into the Micromate Reader and plug into the USB port on the PC and easily transfer pictures to your PC.

Inexpensive and easy to use.

4 out of 5 stars Small and portable, reads SDHC cards.   October 30, 2008
Anjana Nigam (Atlanta, GA)
I went looking for an SD card reader in stores and everyone seemed to have ones which attach to your computer with a USB cable. I wanted something more portable and efficient and found this perfect for my needs. This one takes SD and SDHC cards.

I like this reader for its portability. The SD card goes in the back and sticks out a bit in the back, so you can't use it like a zip drive like you can with the IOGEAR Pocket Card Reader- Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Memory Card Reader / Writer (SD/ MMC Memory Cards) Supports 8GB Capacity (GFR212SDW6).

The transparent cap on this reader is not attached to the body with a chain like on some other readers like IOGEAR Pocket Card Reader- Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Memory Card Reader / Writer (SD/ MMC Memory Cards) Supports 8GB Capacity (GFR212SD) so there is a chance it can fall off. There is also no attachment available to ook it on to your key chain. However, the reader reads all SDHC cards without any problems. The price of this reader keeps fluctuating on Amazon, I got it for under 8 bucks.

I recently purchased a Canon VIXIA HF100 HD camcorder that uses HC SD cards. This excellent card reader allows me to plug my SD cards into my PS3 and watch the HD video without any additional steps. Well priced and nice looking!

Got a new camera, bought a new SD card & discovered it didn't work with my card reader since it was SDHC. Found the MicroMate here and gave it a try. I was very pleased to find it works perfectly, is attractive, white (thus easy to see) and promptly bought another to carry in my camera bag to use while travelling. Cheap and effective little tool.

This little guy works like a charm. I have no complaints. It meets all of my file transfer speed expectations. It's compact and durable. What's not to like?

My setup: I use this SanDisk MicroMate SDHC with my Transcend 4 GB SDHC memory card and Summer 2007 MacBook Pro to transfer both photos from my digital camera and large files from other computers.
