4 out of 5 stars Fast and Easy but . . .   October 30, 2008

The digital Foci PST -251 is all it says it is: fast, easy, convenient way to protect your digital images. The battery life is, however, very short. When you are traveling in third world countries where you must rely on battery power for two or more days before having access to electricity, keep your fingers crossed nothing happens to your compact flashes before you have a chance to download them.

I actually tried two of these and sent them both back for a refund, and thanks to Amazon.com for the efficient manner in which these two transactions were handled. The reason(s) for my disatisfaction with the Foci product was that both of them were deffective and would not function properly. In the case of the first, a couple of the teeny-tiny terminal pins were mis-aligned, while the second one seemed to have a software glitch and would unfailingly generate an error message instead of unloading the inserted flash card. I will in the future be acquiring a picture safe, but it won't be this one.
