Canon 8800F scanner July 23, 2008 Gene S. Young (Biloxi, MS USA) Like this scanner alot. But, and this is a big but to me, the buttons on the front of the machine are almost useless. Push one and nothing happens. Maybe I will figure them out as I go along. Otherwise the machine has functioned perfectly to my satisfaction. Does excellent job on negatives.
Excellent slide to digital conversion July 22, 2008 Lisa (Atlanta) I had bought a $100 scanner to transfer mainly old slides to digital format without much research. After finding out it had automatic settings that couldn't be altered and scans being inconsistent, I looked into other options. This scanner, for only $70 more, has extraordinary quality. It is a slower process and transferring the slides will be time-consuming, but the superior quality is worth a little extra time, especially given that these slides are irreplaceable. It's pretty easy to set up and the editing software that comes with it works very well. Its versatility makes it a great value.
excellent scanner for slides July 20, 2008 Sharon B. Wilder (Louisville, KY USA) I purchased this for scanning slides after comparing many scanner reviews on Amazon.com. It works as well as everyone says. You can scan up to 4 slides at once, and it really doesn't take too long (4 or 5 minutes for 4 slides beats the heck out of the 15 minutes my scanner at work takes for slides) I really wish it came with a disc to load the program, rather than expecting everyone to have the internet to download the program. Fortunately I did have the internet (although I debated getting it), and the Canon service team is very nice about answering questions. I highly recommend this scanner for its quality and features.

Received this product very quickly. Set up was a breeze.Scanned photos quickly and easily with very good true color. I'm withholding a star because I have not scanned slides yet although I look forward to scanning multiple slides at once.
Love this scanner! July 8, 2008 M. Thompson (Chicago) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have a huge project where I scan several pages and have to put them into 1 PDF file. It is pretty much a one step process from scanning to creating the multipage PDF file. This scanner does all of that and more. It automatically takes any page from my book that is landscape and rotates it so that it is oriented correctly for viewing on the computer monitor. I feel like it was built to accomodate my needs for this project. There are many other neat things it does, but at this point, these multiple page PDF scans are my priority.
