Color no no November 22, 2008 Annyanka (Puerto Rico) I just got it so I can't talk much about performance. However it was recommended to me, so I hope it wont disappoint me. The only thing I don't like so far is the color. Because the finish is a matte bronze, it doesn't even look bronze, it looks like brown. Even worse, it looks like mud or something else I'm not even gonna bother mentioning. So, if you are really into those superficial details, then I suggest buying it another color, or putting stickers on it. lol
Worth it October 25, 2008 Doc C I am very satisfied with this product. I got it for a sale price and they gave me free WD passport pouch as part of their promotions. The 320 GB is large enough for all my files. The less glossy portable hard drive is better than my previous black glossy WD hard dirve. Overall, I would strongly recommend it.
Western Digital My Passport Elite 320GB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive October 14, 2008 C. Barker (sanford, fl United States) I've been using this for about a month now and love it. Setup was 123 easy and it works flawlessly. I have a large amount of files that I can't take a chance on losing. I have a layered back-up system and this is the cherry on top. It's great for traveling too as it's about the size of a pack of cards and needs no power source other than the computer. Folders that you choose to have in the backup are backed up instantly which I love. Very happy with this drive.
passport 320 October 5, 2008 Mary Kelly I was very satisfied with the purchase. It was delivered within the expect time frame, and packaged securely. The price was welll below what I could have paid in the store. Will definately purchse for the seller again. Gets high marks in my passport book
Excellent mobile storage October 1, 2008 midnight821 (Kentucky) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned several Western Digital Passport drives and a few other mobile drive brands. This drive is great for backups, as you can hook it up fast without a power supply and store it anywhere. Put it in your briefcase, put it in your safe, take it with you anywhere and keep a copy of your data. It is almost pocket-size and the only thing you have to keep with you is a short USB cable. Some people consider the short cable that's included to be too short, but it's mobile!
Some owners have commented on needing a power adapter or extra usb cable for it, but I've never had that issue. I've used it on multiple desktops and multiple laptops with no issues at all, but you'll have to try it on your own system.
The surface of the Passports can be easy to scratch if you throw it around or keep it in your bag with other items. That would be my only complaint, but it doesn't really bother to me.
All WD Passports that I've owned, including this one, have stood up very well. I've never had a drive failure, the transfer speed is always quick, and the case is very sturdy. I have these drives everywhere, because of their mobility and performance. You can't beat them!
The speed is very responsive. I've used it on an XP and Vista machine and both have copied data to it fairly quick. I haven't performed tests on it, but it always gets the job done for me. The 320GB version is a great upgrade on the previous Passport models.
Check back often for pricing. Amazon and other retailers change the prices of the WD Passport drives all the time!
