Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus December 13, 2009 Randy White (Arkansas, USA) I purchased MEP 14+ and I am very happy with the software. It is a great value for the price and works very well on my computer. Delivery was quick and I have no complaints.
Good product, practical hurdles, questionable customer service June 16, 2009 A-Tom (Albuquerque, NM) This is a pretty good movie editing tool for the advanced beginner. In my opinion, easier to navigate than version 15. The learning curve is steep -- there's a lot to learn to get started. But most of it is logical and straightforward (aside from the badly translated instructions) and it shouldn't take long to get up to speed. And then I think you'll agree that this is a very nice product. Not perfect but good.
If you buy the e-version (download), don't bother with the $10 backup CD. You will only get a trial version that expires after 30 days. I loaded this from the CD on a new computer after the old one died, thinking I could use the same activation code, but no. After three inquiries and waiting several weeks for a new code, I ended up having to download the program again from the link they offered in the long-awaited reply.
EDIT: It has been a year now and I have once again had to reload the program (after reloading Windows) and once again, Magix customer service is slow to respond with a new activation code. (It took five days).
Also, be advised that this program was made in Germany. The English translation is not always up to par, resulting in some odd-looking phrases (which I can easily forgive) but also outright false information and contradictions in the instructions.
HD users Beware June 14, 2009 Michael C. Woodruff (Albuqueruque, NM) I've been a dedicate Magix customer for since video edit pro 2004. I was so excited to see they included Iclone in this version and enabled MP3 rendering. After upgrading from Video edit pro 11 to 14 plus. I found the interface quite different and could not import from my Canon Vixia HV30 for HD or 24p mode. I also found I had to use 4:3 even tho I shot 16:9 on my camera. while it is simple tweak this was only the beginning. After days of trying and failing I decide to go with Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack [...]
I tried the trial program and found it didn't require any tweeking plus it has the settings for my camera.[...]
If you have a lifetime to create a movie this one is for you. May 10, 2009 F. E. Fleming 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Have new HD camcorder producing AVCHD files. To import these into a movie is like watching grass grow. I have a fairly good computer 3.0 Ghz CPU and decent video card and memory. I did a 10 minutes video at a birthday party in say 10 short clips. Just to load two clips took 30 minutes. I could probably finish the 10 minute movie by midnight, if I wanted to stay up that long. I do not suggest you buy this product unless your are young and don't have to work, so you have plenty of time to make your movie. Very, very disapointed I wasted this much money.
too much trouble March 16, 2009 Robert B. Bertie 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
the activation process with all the details needed is beyond a joke, I still can't get it to work and have given up, they vertually want a DNA sample so you can use what you paid for, move along to something else!.
