1 out of 5 stars Horrible registration proceedure   July 19, 2010
Rob in Ohio
I read the reviews for this product and was wary of the complaints about customers having difficulty registering this product. Hey, gang, guess what-ALL of the complaints were true! I tried to register over the internet to no avail and had to call Serif and all they wanted to do was sell more software. I tried to explain how cumbersome their registration proceedure was and the sales pitches continued. I talked to a "supervisor" and told him of the complaints listed on Amazon regarding their registration proceedures and his attitude was complete indifference. I would hope someone in the Amazon marketing division will contact Serif and ask them if a more streamlined registration proceedure might be in order, because I will never buy anything from these arrogant idiots again. Oh, and the software is quite good. I had no problem loading and as a former Photoshop user it was easy to pick up. Suggestion, when registering via phone, get rude, stay rude and then when the "supervisor" gets on the line, get really, really rude, then you'll get your registration number right away, but don't suggest they ought to make the proceedure simpler because the Brits think it's "veddy, veddy good." Ay, whot, pip, pip and all that rot!

4 out of 5 stars A bumpy on the install and a little complex initially, but works okay   June 30, 2010
Sylvia M. Hubbard (http://SylviaHubbard.com Detroit, MI)
We had trouble installing the program, but once we figured that out, getting around the screens were a little confusing.

I had to walk away and come back to this another day in order to figure it out.

The menus - once you get use to how the display is laid out - there was was a semi ease in use and even my 13year old daughter could get it once I explained it to her.

I would say this is a great exception to adobe photoshop

4 out of 5 stars Takes Time to Learn, But Worth It   May 26, 2010

I already own several photo programs and they all take a fair amount of time to learn. If you're looking for a program that you'll instinctively know how to do everything, this one isn't it, but if you are willing to take the time to learn about the different tools and features, you'll find that this program is more powerful than the price tag leads you to believe. After a couple of months of ownership, I've found that I'm using this program more frequently for a couple of neat features, but I have to say that I do not care for the resizing feature. All-in-all, it's a powerful program for its price point.

4 out of 5 stars Even my 5.5 yr old princess....   May 12, 2010

4.5*

I am not a heavy user of photo editors/software. Though I manage to fill up memory cards with digital pictures all the time, I rarely spend time on trying to edit them or modify them other than red-eye reduction/lens distortion, etc. Even for a dummy like me, this software has so many features for the marketed price, it is apparent that this is a great value.

The feature we have ended up using the most is the digital art features. My 5.5 year old loves to convert her pics (and her friends') and use them as coloring sheets - they had a blast in a recent party doing this, though occasionally printer kept creeping up (I reinstalled the printer driver and it has reduced, but still not sure where the fault is - hence, the half star deduction).

The restoration feature is OK - it brightened up some of the 40+ old pictures (all Black&White) and reduced the fading, but perhaps I didn't how much to expect. I completely acknowledge that the restoration results depends on the source itself anyway.

Others have mentioned this too - the instructions that come with this software is outstanding. In fact, just browsing through them gave me so many ideas that I have become more adventurous with my photo editing now. Overall, an excellent features/price value proposition.

1 out of 5 stars talked into this one... sorry I listened   April 8, 2010

a sales man from Britain? Talked me into this with 30 day free trial only couldn't get money back cause didn't have information. This was a waste of money. I went back to Adobe Photo Business edition. which doesn't save photos easily but it's a lot better. Wish Adobe had updated this program. Their new ones are outta site price and I'm familiar with the one I have so I just put up with the glitches. But the Serif is a joke. Can't do much easily. and not worth the money.
